Team USA Basketball fought off a late comeback attempt from Australia to win its second exhibition game together as the team continued its pre-Olympics showcase schedule.
USA Team in the Olympics
Having competed in nineteen Olympic competitions and taken home medals, including sixteen golds, it is the most successful squad in international competition. The squad won Olympic gold medals in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 during the professional era.
The thriller in Las Vegas
The USA Basketball Showcase in Las Vegas resumed on Wednesday with a convincing 86-72 victory over Canada. In a game that was close on Monday’s closing minutes, they beat the Australian Boomers, 98-92.
Australia’s solid defensive play throughout the fourth quarter produced costly errors and missed shots, exposing Team USA’s weaknesses. However, Devin Booker and Tyrese Haliburton’s clutch shooting late in the game gave the United States enough of an advantage to win.
